Apple is widely rumored to be planning to announce the iPhone 16 on September 10, with reports claiming that filming for the special event has now wrapped up. Retail store employees are also reportedly being asked to attend software training sessions in preparation for the release of iOS 18, which typically occurs a week after Apple’s September special event.

Looking at the release history of previous iOS versions, such as iOS 17, 16, and 15, each release happened on a Monday, the week after Apple held its September special event. This pattern gives us a clue as to when we can expect iOS 18 to roll out, with its new feature set, including advanced customization options and all-new personal intelligence capabilities.

Based on the rumors, which suggest that Apple will announce the iPhone 16 on September 10, we should expect iOS 18 to be released on Monday, September 16. This follows the same pattern as previous releases, where the software becomes available to the public at the beginning of the week before the new devices go on sale in-store.

Despite iOS 18 being slated for September 16, not all features will be available on day one. iOS 18.1, expected later in the year, will include Apple’s initial set of Apple Intelligence features, such as Writing Tools, new functionalities for Mail and notifications, upgrades to Photos, and more.

One of the standout features of iOS 18, available from the initial release, is the level of customization it offers users. Users can now arrange apps and widgets in any open space on the Home Screen, allowing for a truly personalized experience. Whether you prefer a light, dark, or tinted look, iOS 18 caters to your preferences with customizable app icons and widgets. The Control Center has also received a makeover, providing easier access to frequently used controls and allowing users to add controls from third-party apps.
